Kenya Menu Farmers’ Cooperative Peaberry – Light Roast
Roasted by Coroco Coffee
This rare peaberry coffee comes from the Kenya Menu Farmers’ Cooperative in Bungoma County, a region in the former Western Province of Kenya where agriculture is central to daily life. The area’s fertile highlands are ideal for growing coffee, along with maize, beans, finger millet, and sweet potatoes. Bungoma’s name comes from Eng’oma, the Bukusu word for “drums”—a nod to its cultural roots as a meeting place for Bukusu elders.
What makes a peaberry special? Most coffee cherries produce two beans, flat on one side. But about 5% of the time, the cherry forms a single, round bean—called a peaberry. These small, dense beans are hand-sorted and prized for their more concentrated flavor and vibrant character in the cup.
Coroco’s light roast of this peaberry brings out a beautifully layered profile. Expect tasting notes of cacao nibs, pineapple, brown sugar, hibiscus, lemon, and lime—a lively, complex cup that’s both bright and sweet. Roasted fresh in our Sycamore roastery, this limited offering won’t last long.
