Strictly High Grown (SHG) Honduras + Laos + Rwanda

Being a female-owned company, we love to empower female and otherwise marginalized coffee producers. Our SHG Honduras comes from  Café Orgánico Marcala (COMSA) which was founded in December of 2001 with a vision of creating new and alternative development opportunities for small-scale coffee farmers in the region of Marcala, Honduras. The organization originally brought together 69 small-scale farmers of Lenca origin who were interested in selling their coffee collectively under the umbrella of a rural credit union.

Laos is part of the International Multi-location Variety Trial, which is led by World Coffee Research (WCR). In the project, 35 varieties of coffee are collected from around the world and then planted in over 60 test plots in 23 countries, resulting in widespread production and quality increases in as little as 5 years. UTZ, Rainforest Allicance Creche for children of the workers, dental care, education, healthcare, gender equality and building community infrastructure, this coffee does good and tastes amazing. Strictly high grown, boasting SJ-33, catigua, TN01, Obata, Java, Typica, Bourbon and Geisha varietals, and a variety of processing methods, this single-origin shares qualities of the best of blends (and pulls an awesome shot of espresso). Medium-full body, excellent balance, and flavor notes of citrus, subtle floral notes, and summer fruits will delight and surprise the palate.

The Fair Trade Cooperative of COOPAC-KODUKAK is committed to social sustainability—Creating communities that are balanced through education and healthcare. From the volcanic mountains near Lake Kivu in Rwanda, they are making a commitment to the people and their communities. Not only are they helping farmers produce superior coffee, they are ensuring that local educational and health systems are improved. From the construction of schools to health clinics, COOPAC-KODUKAK is working with farmers and their families, improving local infrastructure through building bridges and roads. Bringing new production methods through agricultural advisors, we are excited to deliver a locally roasted coffee that is balanced with flavors of brown sugar, apple and green grapes.
